AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Due to the popularity of the After School Enrichment Program and to make it a fair opportunity, Shady Grove Elementary School utilizes a lottery system.  SGES PTA does everything possible to place all children into a class.  To participate in the lottery process we must have all 4 components of your child’s registration before Friday, December 9, 2011.

HOW TO REGISTER
1)  NEW!  On-line Registration form must be filled out completely and submitted on line.  Pick your child's first choice after reading the Class Descriptions.   Indicate a 2nd or 3rd choice selection only if your child is willing to participate in the class.  Make sure if your 1st choice is on Thursday choose none for 1st choice on Tuesday unless your child wants to take a class on both days.

2)  Release Form – Please  PRINT OUT and complete this Release Form, SIGN it and put it in an envelope with your check and send to school through your child’s backpack folder by Friday December 2, 2011.  Your child WILL NOT be considered for a class unless the Release Form and a $65 check is received.

3)  $65 Check made payable to Shady Grove PTA.  Please do not send in cash.  Please do not send in $130 check for two classes.  Payment for a second class is due after the confirmation letter is received.  In the event that your child does not get into any class, your check will be returned.  Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a processing fee.
 
4)  Seal the Release Form and the $65 Check in an envelope addressed to ASE and return it to school in your child’s folder by Friday, December 9, 2011.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Without parent volunteers, these great classes cannot be offered to our students. Please indicate your willingness to volunteer on the registration submission form.

Volunteer Assistance consists of: 
1.  Assisting with student check-in from 2:00-2:30.  This is a one-time commitment.  You are agreeing to volunteer for ONE DAY- not the entire session.

 2. Assisting the Classroom Teacher (if needed) from 2:30-3:30.  This is a one-time commitment.  You are agreeing to volunteer for ONE DAY- not the entire session.
 
IMPORTANT DATES
December 9, 2011—Registration Due
January 5, 2011 -Confirmation e-mails sent
January 5, 2012- Last day to cancel for full refund
January 17, 2012—Classes Begin
February 23, 2012—Classes End (if none rescheduled)
Tuesday classes will be held on Jan. 17th, 24th, 31st,  Feb. 7th, 14th & 21st.
Thursday classes will be held on Jan. 19th, 26th, Feb. 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd.

SCHEDULE
2:15   ASE Students dismissed from their classrooms to the Dining Room for snack (brought from home) and attendance
2:30  Enrichment classes begin
3:30  Pickup by parents and dismissal of walkers and bikers

POLICIES
Lottery Process
All completed registration forms submitted by the deadline will be randomly numbered and the children will be placed in classes based upon availability.  If a minimum number of children do not sign up for a class, the class may be canceled.
The Release form and check MUST also be turned in on time to be entered into the lottery process.

Dismissal Policy
Students must be picked up by a parent or guardian promptly at 3:30.  Students who are 3rd Graders and older may walk and 4th graders and older may bike if indicated on the Release Form.  Parents picking up students must park in the parking lots and come in to the child’s classroom to sign out their child.  PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE  FIRE LANE/CARPOOL LOOP!  A written note must be sent to the After-School Program if your child will be picked up by someone other than a parent.

Inclement Weather Policy
The After School Enrichment program does not meet if school closes early for any reason.  Please be aware that even if school concludes at the normal time, it is possible for the county to cancel after school activities due to impending weather.  Please monitor the HCPS website and news channels.
