2011-2012 PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM

About The Program
The Reflections Program encourages students across the nation and in American schools overseas to explore their artistic talents. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to submit works of art in six arts areas:

• Dance Choreography 
• Film Production
• Literature
• Musical Composition
• Photography
• Visual Arts    
  

The Reflections Theme for 2011-2012 is "Diversity Means..."

Each year, the National PTA Reflections Program challenges students to create art inspired by a specific theme. Themes are selected from hundreds of ideas submitted by students in the PTA Reflections Program Theme Search Contest.


Student Participation

Annually, hundreds of thousands of students participate in the Reflections program through their local PTAs. These student winners go on to compete at the district/regional and state levels, with the best-of-the-best entries going to National PTA to be considered for a National Reflections award.

Each year, PTA gives the following awards at the national level:

• Outstanding Interpretation Awards
• Awards of Excellence
• Awards of Merit
• Honorable Mention

How to Participate

1)   Review the General Student Participation Rules.

2)   Select one or more artistic categories in which you would like you participate.

3)   Review the rules for the category or categories in which you are participating.

Dance Choreography
Film Production
Literature
Musical Composition
Photography
Visual Arts

4)   Complete the Student Entry Form (one per submitted work).

5)   Complete a Consent Form, if applicable for your submitted work. 
       The Consent Form Instructions Page describes what entries will require a consent form.

The entries are due Friday, October 21st.

Also, please take a moment to fill out the PTA Reflection Program Theme Search Student Submission Form with ideas for the theme for 2013-2014 and return it with the student submission.  The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100, and his or her theme will be presented at the 2012 National PTA Convention. 

The PTA Reflections Recognition Ceremony will be held at Shady Grove on Thursday, November 17th.  Each student will be recognized for their participation in the program.
