Hi Cardinal Families,
The Shady Grove PTA is excited to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year. We are looking forward to a wonderful year together. Our amazing PTA Board, made up of parent volunteers, has been working hard over the summer planning activities for the school year such as our 3rd annual Cardnival, Cardinal Cultures Night, Trunk or Treat, Bingo Night, Reflections, Cultural Arts & Science performances, and so much more! Shady Grove has a long history of having a strong PTA made up of parent volunteers and school representatives, an active and supportive volunteer community, and a wonderful partnership with the school which makes our “Nest” at Shady Grove so special. With the support of our amazing families, we are able to enrich the school experience for all of our students and support the teachers and staff throughout the year in many ways. These efforts are primarily funded through our Fall membership drive and Annual Giving Campaign, which is a direct donation campaign that allows families to make a once-a-year contribution to the PTA. These proceeds fund our programs and purchases that directly benefit the students, teachers and school for the year.
The Mission of the PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. To help us accomplish this mission, we want to represent every Cardinal student with a PTA membership. We hope that every adult in your house will join the PTA. We invite you to become a member, become involved, and make a difference. Through your memberships, volunteer hours, and participation in your student’s education, we achieve success together. We have several levels of PTA membership to suit your preference. Specifically, the Gold Donor and Cardinal Donor proceeds benefit all of our children and fund our programs and purchases for the year including Cultural Arts & Sciences programs, Reflections, teacher resource funds, technology improvements, Morning Clubs, Outdoor Classroom supplies and materials, PTA events, and other school resources. Without the PTA and your support, these programs and supplies at Shady Grove would not exist. Remember, PTA Memberships must be renewed each year, and you don't have to volunteer to be a PTA Member. Your membership shows support for what the PTA does here at SGES.
There will be many volunteer opportunities for families to be involved throughout the year, and we welcome you to sign up! To stay informed, please visit the Shady Grove PTA website (www.sgespta.org), the PTA Facebook page, and the PTA Instagram account, and be sure to read our bi-weekly PTA email blasts emailed to PTA members.
We want the PTA to be a welcoming spot for all and to try to make our wonderful school even stronger together. On behalf of the entire PTA Board, we are grateful for your support of our school and look forward to a wonderful school year!
Thank you,
Kathryn Shewey
